Trip Report
This tramp had us heading up on another winter Routeburn Falls trip. Always great times and this time we spent two nights in the valley.
On Friday night an advance crew headed in early afternoon to walk into the Routeburn Flats hut. Tim waited for Kynan and Emma to come up after work then the 3 of them tramped through in the dark arriving about 9.30pm. The night tramp something that Tim had always wanted to do.
On arrival the Routeburn Flats hut was fairly full, so some of us ended up sleeping on the floor of the hut in the dining room.
Next morning we had some breakfast before we headed up the hill to the Routeburn Falls Hut – a bit of a grunt as always.
The afternoon was spent exploring Lake Harris basin including making snow angels and skipping stones into Lake Harris.
Back at the hut we learnt to play some new games and enjoyed the sunshine streaming into the hut before it set behind Mt Xenicus and the temperature dropped.
The next morning we headed back down the valley and away home.
