Trip Report
We are planning a little casual winter trip up to the Routeburn Falls Hut in August 2026.
The proposed plan is as follows:
- Friday 7th August: Head to the Glenorchy end of the Routeburn track and start tramping by lunchtime to the Falls Hut.
- Saturday 8th August: Eat, sleep, day trip into the Harris basin as far as is safe, play card games, eat, sleep, stoke the fire, etc.
- Sunday 9th August: Short church service in the hut … tramp out to the roadend.
Yes it is winter … yes it it will be cold … oh so cold. So you’ll need very warm tramping gear and a very warm sleeping bag.
